Ruth Cherrington has presented us with a book charming in its nostaglia; insightful in its analysis of the present and future of Working Men's Club and challenging in its analysis of shortcomings and possibilities for the future.
This is a book for those with a genuine interest in the success of the Working Men's Club movement. It is light reading and, at the same time, has enough meat to really get your teeth into.
It is a well balanced book that can be truly enjoyed by, and prove an inspiration to, all who read it.

Having the same back ground as the author it was like going down memory lane for me.i don't want the chapter on games to end.each page I turned over made me think of my late mother and father who were strong club people.the book made me feel very proud to be British .great job Ruth.
