About the Author
Dr. Seuss was born Theodor Geisel in Springfield, Massachusetts on March 2, 1904. After attending Dartmouth College and Oxford University, he began a career in advertising. His advertising cartoons, featuring Quick, Henry, the Flit!, appeared in several leading American magazines.
Dr. Seuss's first children's book, And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, hit the market in 1937, and the world of children's literature was changed forever!
In 1957, Seuss's The Cat in the Hat became the prototype for one of Random House's best- selling series, Beginner Books. This popular series combined engaging stories with outrageous illustrations and playful sounds to teach basic reading skills.
Brilliant, playful, and always respectful of children, Dr. Seuss charmed his way into the consciousness of four generations of youngsters and parents. In the process, he helped kids learn to read.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1984 and three Academy Awards, Seuss was the author and illustrator of 44 children's books, some of which have been made into audiocassettes, animated television specials, and videos for children of all ages. Even after his death in 1991, Dr. Seuss continues to be the best-selling author of children's books in the world.

Perfect translation of a classic book!

The translation of the book is very well written. I can read it just as smoothly and comically as I do the English version. I've purchased other books in the past that translate word for word and it reads horribly. Books need to be altered in the way that makes sense in that particular language. The translator did a wonderful job on this one.

OF COURSE WHO WOULDN'T LOVE THIS? IT IS FUN TO READ AND THE ILLUSTRATIONS ARE DELIGHTFUL. I READ IT IN SPANINSH AND ENGLISH.........
IF YOU ARE TEACHING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE OR JUST ENGLISH IT IS A GREAT FUN WAY TO TEACH CONTRAACTIONS....".I DO NOT LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM ....I DON'T LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM" ....".WOULD YOU LIKE IT IN A BOX?" "NO, I WOULDN'T LIKE IT IN A BOX" AND MANY MORE FOR CONTRACTIONS AND PRACTICING ASKING AND ANSWERING QUESTIONS IN A COMPLETE SENTENCE. ALSO TEACHES RHYME, AND ENCOURAGES READING FLUENCY IN A FUN WAY FOR THE CHILDREN BECAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH REPETITION MY PRINCIPAL LOVED IT WHEN SHE OBSERVED THE LESSON.

A lot of fun, great translation.

This is a fun book to read. It's a great translation. It's not literally word-for-word, which would ruin the rhymes. Instead of "Sam-I-Am" (rhymes with "eggs and ham") the character is "Juan Ramón" (rhymes with "con jamón"). Nothing of substance was changed -- the artwork is the same and the translated text fits the illustrations well.
I'm not a fluent Spanish speaker, but other reviewers have also commented that the translation is done well.
My son enjoys the Cat in the Hat Spanish/English dictionary much more to read on a nightly basis, but I enjoy this book.
