I am not a very sociable person so I have very limited ways to meet new people and even girls. Then I discovered Tinder —an app that helps you find singles in your area or city. At first, the idea of swiping left or right if you like or dislike a person based on their profile photos and bios seem odd but after a few weeks I got accustomed to it. My problem started when I realized I wasn't getting a lot of matches than I was expecting on Tinder. I have tried to post the best shots I have but I was attracting very little attention from girls and most of the matches were none of my types. Less does not equal more!

This could've been a great book, and was for the first 1/3 of it. After that it went to hell. I honestly can't put into words why I ended up putting the book down at 97% completion. It's just that I honestly didn't care about what happened to any of the characters. This was due to the fact that there was just too many people I was forced to follow. Yep, it was written in 1st person perspective, but it kept jumping from character to character way too much, so I didn't really get a chance to care about the MC all that much, especially when the fighting took on a glossed-over aspect. LIike this; 'Darwin took a powerful overhead swing at the Orc, cleaving it deeply.' YOU HAVE DONE 132 POINTS OF DAMAGE. It went from that, too; 'Darwin jumped headlong into the fray, moving so fast and doing so much damage the enemy had no chance.' Yeah, pretty boring reading through fight scenes like that for the last 2/3 of the book.

There was even 2 or 3 Boss fights that we don't even get to see what dropped from them!! WTH!!

I also didn't like the fact that the Mage's bigger spells took 2 minutes or more to cast... Seriously!? If that were the case then no one would even think about running a mage. You'd spend more time dead then alive ffs!

Ok, all that negative aside, I really did get into the first part of the book. It was captivating and read like a VR MMO should, and stuck with the Bathrobe Knight for the most part. Once the other characters got involved, though, it just got boring and uninteresting for me.

I bought it to support the author, but I read it as a free, serialized web novel, thus I have trouble reviewing it as a purchased book.
To me, it was a fun weekly web novel. The author reads all the comments, responds and can course correct depending on the readers reviews.

This is VRMMO, without all the silly 'real life' stuff, and yet not quite 'transported' genre. Players actually play the game like it is an MMO.

It is given in different POV sections, kinda like 'Song of Ice & Fire'.

It starts off strong as a comedy, then towards the conclusion, the humor goes away.
There is an abundance of gamer & 'nerd'(or is it 'geek'. I always get the 2 confused) pop-culture references.

Really, this plays more like an MMO than most other VR stories I've read, which is quite nice. I can tell that the author has experience with and appreciation for games..(Obviously, there are many things that would never be in a REAL mmo, but I accept it for the sake of the story)

Unfortunately, it suffers from a badly done romance plotline towards the end. (Many readers immediately commented, and apparently the writer viewed the situation completely differently, so I'm still hopeful that the situation will be improved)

A fun engaging story about a person who get's transported to another world wearing only a bathrobe. It is humorous and exciting with plenty of action and some mystery as well. This book is great for people who are looking to learn the core concepts of CISA in a very short amount of time. It has easy to follow illustrations and guides to help readers understand and visualize concepts. The most useful section I've found is the "Protection of Information Assets" section. The author worded it in a way that was easy for me to understand and provided helpful illustrations to really help me get it. It's a great book to have for exam preparation and I feel more readily knowledgeable about CISA since reading it.

Essential Companion to the official guide!

CISA Essential Exam Notes is composed of important notes and strategies test-takers can utilize for the official CISA exam. First, before reading this, you should definitely buy the official CISA manual first. This book is not a replacement for it. That being said, this book IS a crucial companion to the official guide. Here is why it works for me:

1) Each concept presented in the official manual will not necessarily be tested on the actual exam. CISA Essential Exam Notes includes only the most important concepts that will be presented on the test. In comparison with my colleagues, this book saved me so much time prepping for the exam.

2) The concepts in this book are presented in plain language.

3) It covers a wide range of the topics that will be tested: IT Auditing, IT Governance, Information Systems acquisitions, and so much more.

Even if you waited until the last minute to prepare, this book is worth the money because it has valuable last-minute information.

It differs from other available books on the topic because, rather than presenting the Semantic Web as a quilt of disconnected topics, it provides a comprehensible body of concepts and related technologies. The book reflects the authors’ experience in research, graduate teaching, corporate training, industry and government projects grounded on the Semantic Web.

unsolved semantic web

The fact that the book comes out of NASA is a good indicator of how some large organisations are taking seriously the rise of the Semantic Web. It explains how the current Web (the so-called 1.0 version) has its limitations, despite its huge success. That success is due to the construction of webpages, that are meant for human visual and manual comprehension. The mixture of presentation and content in a typical webpage is immensely aggravating if you want to construct ways to extract meaning.

In an effort to rise above 1.0, the book talks about many software technologies that have arisen. The base technology is surely XML. From the text, you can think of XML as HTML, except that you, the author, get to define the tags. Whereas HTML comes with hardwired tags.

But while XML is a great start, the problems only begin. While you, a human, can now define tags, the meaning and intent of what you define still has to be discerned by others. If this can only be done manually, then we are only slightly better off than 1.0. How to do this programmatically? This, in essence, is what the book devotes most of its space to. Ontologies have to be defined. Terms and meanings tied together. Then there are Web Services. So that organisations can build automated interactions with others. Perhaps to facilitate e-commerce. Or to extend and automate a supply chain. An entire panoply of standards has arisen; described as WS-*. Like Web Service Description Language. And Web Service Business Process Execution Language. Very easy to trip over some of the book's jargon. Unfortunately, you have to get used to it.

Much is still unresolved. You get an appreciation of where we are, and how far we have to go.

The Thirty Years War provides the reader with not just with an analysis of the origins of the conflict and of the structure of warfare but also with a succinct narrative account concentrating on the key dates and major turning points of the war.

interesting but a little boring

Mr. Asch is obviously a thorough and competent specialist of the period. It seems to me that he is writing essentially from a German perspective, which is not a bad thing, but his thorough expositions, chapter by chapter, lack the additional dimension one would expect to find in a book describing such an amazing period of European history. In other words, this is accurate, solid stuff but after a while, it takes some effort to labour through the rest of the book. Historians can't be expected to write page turners, but still !

The Beginning of the States!

The Thirty Years War by Ronald Asch is a very good book on the subject of the political forces and their interaction that came to be called the "Thirty Years War". He looks at not only the policies of the major actors in Europe at that time but also at the area of religion and what factor it played in this conflict. I would recommend this book to individuals with a strong understand of the political factors and major European powers of the 17th century. As for others, this book may be a little hard to follow. A map of the region is provided in the front, but I would have enjoyed additional maps encompassing those specific areas that specific chapters covered to be included in those chapters. I would have also liked to see a little bit more of the military aspects of this conflict to be covered in depth. However, even with these minor request, Robert Asch's book is a great reasource covering a interesting period of sometimes forgotten European history. It should be required read for those interested in state politics and to understand how the European states came into existence.
