Good book for guitar addicts

I think thia is a good book. It gives an interesting history of the Guild company. It also has a lot of details that can help the collector identify what type of Guild he has and the date it was made. It has some great photos (most black and white, but there are some color ones to). It is a nice coffee table book for a musican. My only comlaint is that for the price it should be a hard cover (but then I'm cheap).

Guild experts call this book "The Bible." This volume covers Guild through 1977. (A second volume is forthcoming.) It contains more of the important details about Guild through 1977 than all other sources combined. It's as informative as an encyclopedia. Yet it's also a readable history plus an anthology of great photos.

Great source of information!

I bought this book because I am the original owner of a Guild acoustic guitar that I got in the late 50s when I was in the 5th grade (I'm nearly 62 now!). It has serial # 16! I couldn't find any exact info on this particular guitar online or from some sources I contacted, but this book was recommended to me. It was such an interesting read, and the pictures are amazing, too. If you want to know about these wonderful guitars, this is a great source!

A Flora of the Liverworts and Hornworts of New Zealand is an illustrated guide to an important component of New Zealand s green plant flora, to be published in three volumes. Volume 1 deals solely with leafy liverworts, as will Volume 2; Volume 3 will deal with the remainder of the leafy liverworts together with the thallose liverworts and the hornworts. There are 595 species of liverworts and 13 hornwort species in 49 families and 157 genera that are currently accepted as occurring in the New Zealand region. Volume 1 provides keys and descriptions to 211 of the 595 liverwort species, and provides a key to all genera of the largest order, the Jungermanniales. Detailed notes are provided on distribution and habitat, and discussions under the family and genus descriptions place the New Zealand flora in the context of the world liverwort and hornwort flora. To complement the descriptions, 172 black-and-white plates illustrate details of many of the species and 101 color images illustrate almost all of the 60 genera in this volume. Volume 1 also includes a detailed Introduction, which presents a history of exploration of the New Zealand flora; provides a detailed overview of the region s climate, geology, and vegetation; and includes a special contribution on endophytic fungi associates in New Zealand liverworts and their ecological and evolutionary significance. When this three-volume flora is completed, it will be the first flora for these two groups of bryophytes since Hooker s 1864 1867 Handbook of the New Zealand Flora.

About the Author
John Engel is curator of bryophytes at the Field Museum, Chicago. He has worked mainly on New Zealand liverworts since 1980, publishing many revisions of New Zealand liverwort families and genera such as Schistochilaceae, Clasmatocolea, Lepidozia, Telaranea, and Balantiopsis since then. He also has worked on the austral South American liverwort flora, publishing floras of the Falkland Islands/Islas Malvinas and Brunswick Peninsula. David Glenny is a taxonomist at the Allan Herbarium, Landcare Research, Lincoln. He has worked on both flowering plants and liverworts, and has published a checklist of the New Zealand liverworts and hornworts and a computer-interactive key to the Australasian liverwort and hornwort genera.

ANYTHING by Alfred Edershem is going to be GREAT! Edersheim was a Jewish Christian with a wonderful background in Jewish history and customs. I grab everything II can get my hands on by this author! The language may be a little bit difficult for some modern readers, but work your way through it anyway. It's well woth it.

Edersheim is always very good. This work is actually from his, "Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah" but includes the actual text of the passages which are not given in the original.
